Dental Cleaning

The University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute offers a comprehensive line of dental services for both children and adults. We serve the general public as well as patients with unique or complex medical conditions, which can impact their dental needs as well as our approach to providing their care.

We offer a variety of services, including diagnostic and preventative services, routine cleanings and examinations. We also specialize in restorative dentistry, which may include the placement of fillings, inlays and crowns, as well as prosthetic services, available to patients who require bridges or dentures, and minor periodontal and orthodontic services. As needed, patients who require more complex dental care have on-site access to UM Rehab’s surgical suites.

UM Rehab’s dental team is comprised of general and pediatric dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and administrative assistants, as well as residents from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Appointments are available by calling 410-448-6290 and are offered Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm, and on Fridays from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Most disabled children have their health insurance through the Maryland Medicaid Program.

Indeed, about 20 percent of Maryland children are covered by Medicaid, the government program that provides health care for the economically disadvantaged. Along with the University of Maryland Dental School, UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute Dental Service is one of the largest providers of dental care for the Maryland Medicaid Program. Our staff of pediatric dentists is able to extend care to disabled children who would otherwise have difficulty accessing specialized care in the community.

The staff includes general and pediatric dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, business and clerical support. Our team includes fellows and residents in pediatric dentistry from the University of Maryland Dental School.
