About Me
Dr. Richard Mason specializes in sports medicine and joint replacement. His orthopedic interests include advanced arthroscopic techniques to manage injuries of the shoulder and knee and adult reconstructive joint surgery.
"I am very fortunate to be able to work with a variety of patients, from the athlete to the elderly," Dr. Mason says. "My patients are entrusting me to do my best to improve their quality of life. It is so rewarding to help a severely injured athlete return to play or restore an arthritic patient’s joint so they can get back to their daily activities."
Dr. Mason completed his flight surgery training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. He served as head flight surgeon for a United States Marine Corps combat helicopter squadron during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
A strong supporter of local communities, Dr. Mason has served as a team physician for professional, collegiate and high school teams and has volunteered his time to coach in various recreational leagues. He holds a faculty position as a clinical instructor in Orthopedics at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He is also medical director for the Surgery Center of Easton.
Dr. Mason lives in Trappe, Maryland, with his wife.
