About Me

A neurosurgeon, Dr. Crandall specializes in treating benign and cancerous tumors of the vertebrae and spinal cord. He can treat all forms of spine disease, including degenerative diseases, deformities, trauma, tumors and infections.

Procedures Dr. Crandall specializes in include:

  • Complex tumor and deformity surgery
  • Minimally invasive spine surgery
  • Robotic spine surgery using the Mazor robot
  • Revision surgery
  • Artificial disc replacement

Another specialty of Dr. Crandall is complex revision surgery for patients who have previously undergone spinal procedures but are still experiencing pain or discomfort. He also cares for patients with brain tumors, hydrocephalus and brain trauma. His areas of clinical interests include spinal oncology, complex spine surgery, neurotrauma and general neurosurgery.

Dr. Crandall has much experience with treating the most complex spinal disorders and has access to the most advanced technology and resources. He works with each patient in finding the right options for them. His goal is to maximize management of the patient's condition before considering surgery.

From the time he was a child, Dr. Crandall knew that he wanted a career in medicine. It was his affinity for fixing things with his hands that drew him to the specialty of surgery. During his college years, he developed a passion for neuroscience and decided he wanted to pursue a career in neurosurgery.

Dr. Crandall has previously been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in the specialties of neurosurgery and spine surgery by Baltimore magazine. He also was ranked one of America's Best Spine Surgeons by Newsweek. Dr. Crandall is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and Joint Spine Section. He serves on several local, national and international committees, and is on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Neurosurgical Society.
