About Me

Dr. Hanes' special interests include dialysis treatment and treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Her approach to care is focused on putting the patient first and serving them with the utmost compassion.

Medical education is another of Dr. Hanes' passions. Over the years, she has won numerous teaching awards. Currently, she is a clinical associate professor of medicine in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). She received her medical degree from UMSOM before completing her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in nephrology.

Dr. Hanes is a past chair and current member of the Maryland Commission on Kidney Disease. She is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation Medical Advisory Board.

  • Dr Haines has been my go to doctor ever since my kidney transplant 10 years ago. My annual visit with Dr Haines requires an overnight stay because of distance from my home to Baltimore. I could have transferred to Doctor closer to my home but I prefer to remain with Dr Haines. I credit her for the excellent care I have received since my transplant. She is not just a doctor to me but she is also a dear friend.
