Amara Z. Burney, MD

Dr. Burney has been with Towson Medical Associates since 2019. She has practiced in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia during her more than 15-year career as a family medicine physician. 
 
She strongly believes in taking a patient-centered approach. She believes listening is her greatest strength in patient care. Caring for the whole patient is her philosophy to medicine, and she aims to empower her patients with the knowledge to take an active role in their health. 
 
She has a myriad of clinical interests and specialties, including pediatrics, adolescents, adult health, women’s health, sports medicine and geriatrics. She is highly skilled in developing comprehensive treatment plans for chronic and acute conditions alike. She emphasizes the importance of working with patients to inform their healthcare and maintaining open and supportive communication to build a rapport to achieve a common goal — a patient’s health and happiness. 
 
Dr. Burney was born and raised in Pakistan. She finished her residency at Chesterfield Family Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. In her free time, she likes to play badminton with her children and travel.
