Dr. Mohindra was named a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of Radiation Oncology by Baltimore magazine in 2020.

Dr. Mohindra joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in July 2014 as an assistant professor in a clinician-scientist role and currently acts as a Radiation Oncologist at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Maryland Proton Treatment Center. Prior to that, he completed two radiation oncology residencies (India and U.S.A), a head-neck cancer clinical fellowship (Canada) and a fellowship as a post-doctoral global academic research associate (U.S.A).

His primary area of clinical and research interest is in the lung/thoracic, gynecological and hemato-lymphoid cancers. Dr. Mohindra played a key role in the initiation of the department's MRI-guided internal radiation (brachytherapy) program for women with cervical cancer. He has helped establish the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) as a referral center for brachytherapy for complex gynecological cancers. He is currently working on expanding the use of modern technologies like proton beam therapy for the management of thoracic/lung, gynecological and hemato-lymphoid malignancies. He is an active participant of the multi-disciplinary clinics at the University of  Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center for thoracic, gynecological and hemato-lymphoid programs.

While continuing to build novel clinical programs and provide expert service in radiation oncology, Dr. Mohindra’s key goals include cutting-edge research. He is actively involved in several collaborative research endeavors including some with special emphasis on evaluating agents that sensitize tumors to radiation and mitigate its toxicity to normal tissue. He is the principal investigator of departmental and national clinical trials.

He has received several academic excellence, research and travel awards including the 2014 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Roentgen Resident/Fellow Award for outstanding radiologic research and the 2014 American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Resident Digital Poster Discussion Award in the Biology category.

Dr. Mohindra has active participation in key roles within many national and international societies. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. He holds committee appointments within the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology (radiation oncology, respiratory, symptom intervention, and cancer in the older adults) and American Society for Radiation Oncology (Workforce and Research Grants Evaluation Subcommittee). Internationally, he is a member of the Advanced Radiation Technology Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). He was appointed a member chairs the thoracic section of the ACR Radiation Oncology In-Training (TXITTM) Exam committee and develops examination questions for residents in radiation oncology.

Within the Department of Radiation Oncology, UM School of Medicine, Dr. Mohindra is the director of research internships. He has mentored medical students and residents on research projects that have led to national awards. He is also the Lead, Scope of Practice, Policy and Procedure Management Workgroup of Quality and Safety Review Council. In this role, he will oversee the development of SOPs for various departmental clinical activities and establish uniform procedures system-wise.
