About Me

Dr. Miller sees outpatients for medication management as well as for psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. He is also an attending psychiatrist in the Psychiatric Emergency Services department at University of Maryland Medical Center.

Dr. Miller is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at University of Maryland School of Medicine. In addition, he is medical director of the Psychiatry Associates (PA) faculty practice and director of psychotherapy education for the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt residency program.

Dr. Miller is a graduate psychoanalyst from the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis. His scholarly interests include residency education, the intersection between the neurosciences and psychotherapy, and applications of psychodynamic theory to the humanities (including film and literature).

Dr. Miller is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is a recipient of the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) Committee on Research and Special Training Essay Award in Psychoanalysis and Culture for his exploration of psychoanalytic themes in a narrative poem by William Shakespeare.
