Nathan Schnaper Intern Program in Translational Cancer Research
The Nathan Schnaper Intern Program in Translational Cancer Research (NSIP) is a prestigious 10-week summer internship that provides undergraduate students with integrated research, clinical, and educational experiences to emphasize the translation of laboratory discoveries into clinical applications. This innovative program had its origins in the late 1960s, and over its history has trained over 200 students, with the majority of interns matriculating to medical or graduate school. Directed by Dr. Bret Hassel, the program is supported by the Schnaper Fund, UMGCCC, and a National Cancer Institute funded Training grant (R25CA186872: the Nathan Schnaper Intern Program in Translational Cancer Research). University of Maryland Scholars Summer Research Program
UMGCCC participates in the University of Maryland Scholars Summer Research Program, which provides undergraduate students with in-depth focused, research experiences and professional mentorship. The program offers undergraduates at the University of Maryland, College Park the opportunity to become engaged in summer research projects led by top research faculty in the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. A highlight is the 'End of Summer Research Forum' where participants share their research experiences. The program also exposes students to the many options they have available as future health professionals within the MD degree program, the vast array of graduate degree programs, and the MD/PhD and MD/MS degree opportunities at UMB. Summer Internship Program/Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOP)
UMGCCC faculty participate in this 8-week summer internship program in Pharmaceutical Sciences for undergraduate students led by faculty in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Interns have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge research skills under the mentorship of faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students.
