About Me

Dr. Sasha Krupnick is chief of Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Director of the University of Maryland Lung Transplant Program. He is a general thoracic (chest) surgeon specializing in the treatment of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, lung transplantation and non-cancerous thoracic disorders.

Dr. Krupnick provides the full range of thoracic surgery services, including minimally invasive lung and esophageal resections.

Dr. Krupnick's career is dedicated to advancing the field of lung transplantation. His laboratory focuses on the development of new immunosuppression mechanisms for the lung allograft. He, along with his colleagues, made several important discoveries including the role of the gut microbiome in chronic rejection and early immunologic intervention that can encourage long-term graft survival.

  • Good they were concern.

  • The provider only spent a few minutes with me and was very abrupt. I understand he was confident of his medical opinion but the definitely abruptness of his response ended the conversation & dismissed my concerns. I drove a long way for this appointment and would have appreciated the provider hearing me out and discussing options, not just his one and only decision.

  • He does not have any kind of bedside manner. Hinted in front of my son that if I didn't have surgery I was going to die soon. Didn't really want to listen or give any other suggestions. Stated "do u want me to sugar coat it, ok your gonna be fine", being very condescending. Just wanted me to agree to surgery, although I just had major surgery 2 months ago. Then he said I can wait about 4 months, but surgery is my only recourse. I asked him when did I need to see him next, he asked the tech when am I due to come back. Another sign if not listening to me, as I know when I'm due to come back for clinic, but was asking did I need to see him again.

  • Provider was not current with research and dismissive of all concerns, as well as dismissive of current patients with condition. Implied that pain was due to another health issue but should have been explicit about it.

  • I even had my wife receive rehab and and treatment by your nurses.

  • The provider was dismissive and did not filter out personal aesthetic preferences in regards to my concerns.

  • I feel they are the very best.
