A warm welcome to the University of Maryland Med-Peds! We are thrilled you are interested in our residency program and encourage you to learn more about what makes us unique!

Created in 1994, our Med-Peds program has flourished in a medical institution that provides our residents with unparalleled clinical experience, world-class research opportunities and a deep commitment to our surrounding community. Our program is committed to training exceptional Med-Peds physicians with the skills and expertise to become leaders in the fields of academic medicine, primary care, hospital medicine and subspecialty care. We believe that close mentorship is the key to success, and we are deeply committed to fostering our residents’ career goals starting from their first day of intern year. As a result, our residents have enjoyed success in a multitude of settings, ranging from community clinics to major academic centers and international venues.

The high-quality residents that comprise our program serve as the foundation of the Maryland Med-Peds program; they are responsible for the great successes we have seen over the years. We could not be prouder of our residents and consider them as our colleagues. We are committed to learning from each other and they are a critical component of our program's growth and development. We continue to be innovative in clinical training, medical education, leadership and professional development. Our residents join us as top candidates, and through rigorous, innovative training and dedicated mentorship, they graduate as leaders ready to serve their communities. Many of our graduates have chosen to stay at the University of Maryland for their careers, a testament to the camaraderie between residents and faculty, as well as the strength of Maryland as an academic institution.

At the University of Maryland Med-Peds, we are a close-knit community – truly a “Med-Peds family" – and we care about our residents' success both in and out of the hospital. Our residents and faculty are all extremely close – in addition to great clinical training, you will be getting friends and mentors for life!

I encourage you to submit an application to the Maryland Med-Peds program and I look forward to meeting you in the fall! If you have any further questions about the program or interview process, please feel free to contact me via email at kdonohue@som.umaryland.edu.
