Section of Interventional Pulmonology within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University of Maryland School of Medicine

The Section of Interventional Pulmonology within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University of Maryland School of Medicine is pleased to offer a 12-month comprehensive subspecialty training program in Interventional Pulmonology (IP).

The fellowship provides structured training that meets or exceeds the minimum standards as set forth by the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) and the Association of Interventional Pulmonology Program Directors (AIPPD).

Since the ACGME does not yet accredit IP fellowships, this is a non-ACGME accredited program. However the fellowship is accredited by the AABIP/AIPPD Joint Interventional Pulmonology Fellowship Accreditation Committee. The program provides advanced training in IP following successful completion of an ACGME accredited two-year fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine or three-year fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

Goals

The overall goals of our Fellowship Program is to provide comprehensive clinical training coupled with a broad range of research opportunities to create a strong foundation in Interventional Pulmonology.

At the University of Maryland Graduate Medicine Education program, fellows develop the foundation to become outstanding educators, administrators, mentors and researchers with the potential to become leaders for many years to come. The clinical facilities of the University of Maryland Medical Center together with the excellent and challenging intellectual environment of our Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine provide an ideal setting to obtain clinical and research training.
