No one wants to be a patient in a hospital; however, while at UMMC, there are some steps you can take to help you or your family member receive the highest quality and safest care. Because you know yourself or your family member best, you are in the best position to assist the health care team with your treatment.
- If you do not understand something, ask questions.
- If something doesn't look or feel right, question it.
- Answer the doctors' and nurses' questions as completely as you can.
- Follow instructions carefully.
Remember, if you notice anything that does not seem quite right, you have the right to question it! Let a health care professional know about any problems you or your loved one are experiencing, so that he or she can take quick action.
