Double board-certified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology, Dr. Barrueto completed his emergency medicine residency at East Carolina University in 2001 and his fellowship in medical toxicology at New York University-Bellevue in 2003. He started as an academic emergency physician with the University of Maryland School Of Medicine in 2003 and, in 2007, joined UM Upper Chesapeake Health. Dr. Barrueto also received his MBA from University of Massachusetts in 2015.

Dr. Barrueto was the chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine for eight years and became the chief medical officer for UM Upper Chesapeake Health in 2016. Dr. Barrueto is committed to improving the health of the Harford County community, ensuring patient safety and enhancing both patient and physician satisfaction.
