University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is launching an in-person one session course titled “Vitals 4 Life” from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, 100 Brown St.

The Interventional Radiology (IR) suite at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton recently underwent major renovations to accommodate new X-ray equipment. Due to the size of the new equipment, the room has been completely revamped, including new cabinetry and flooring, an updated control room and a new area for team members to scrub-in. The cost of the project was $2.3 million.

University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade in The Leapfrog Group's fall 2023 reporting period. This marks the seventh consecutive period that the hospital has received an "A."

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, led by members of the senior leadership team, recently honored team members with service award presentations.

Due to recurring staffing challenges, UM Shore Regional Health is temporarily closing the Laboratory at Roundtop, 6602 Church Hill Rd., Suite 450, Chestertown, effective Monday, November 13, 2023, to address these issues. UM SRH plans to reopen this location as soon as possible following the recruitment and onboarding of phlebotomists and additional team members.

Under the leadership of Kathy Deoudes, Chair, the UM Shore Regional Health Board of Directors recently welcomed four new members: LuAnn Brady, Marlene Feldman, Wayne Hockmeyer and Valerie Overton. The Board’s composition includes representatives from the five counties served by UM SRH, the regional physician community and UMMS.

University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown, in partnership with the Kent Cultural Alliance and Kent County public and private schools, recently hosted an art reception in the hospital's Aging & Wellness Center to showcase a new exhibit of student artwork from the local community.

Rachel Lange, CPNP-AC, recently joined UM Shore Medical Group – Pediatrics at Cambridge. Lange joins Ahmed Saad Gawad, MD, and Gina Exantus-Bernard, MD, in the Cambridge-based practice.

UM Shore Medical Group – Gastroenterology recently welcomed Abbie Morgan, DNP FNP-C, as a nurse practitioner. Morgan has experience in Intensive Care Unit and Acute Care nursing at University of Maryland Medical Center, the University of Maryland Medical Systems' flagship academic hospital in Baltimore, as well as clinical experience in multiple specialty practices, including gastroenterology.
