About Me
Dr. Sciadini is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in orthopedic traumatology and complex fracture care. He treats a wide range of orthopedic injuries, ranging from simple foot and ankle fractures to complex pelvis and acetabular (a break in your hip socket) fractures.
Dr. Sciadini has particular interests in treating fractures that either fail to heal after an extended period of time (nonunion) or heal abormally (malunion). He also has special interest in pelvis and acetabulum (socket of the hipbone) surgery as well as treatment of complex articular and periarticular fractures and posttraumatic reconstruction.
Dr. Sciadini is a professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also chief of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) Midtown Campus.
Dr. Sciadini has developed several innovative techniques, including transfibular plating of distal tibial fractures and intra-articular osteotomy for medial tibial plateau fractures with lateral joint impaction. He is involved in the teaching of residents, trauma fellows and medical students at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, located at the UMMC Downtown Campus.
In his free time, Dr. Sciadini enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He keeps active through CrossFit, mountain biking and wakeboarding.

Dr. Sciadini's research interests include the development of a surgical simulator for orthopaedic trainees; comparison of new, reprocessed and damaged orthopaedic drill bits; sterilizing external fixators for surgery; and radiographic determinants of early clinical failure after fixation of posterior wall acetabular fractures.
Dr. Sciadini is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters on complex fractures, lower extremity injuries and upper extremity injuries. He has also presented his research at numerous local, national and international conferences.
