UM Shore Medical Group – Women's Health performs a wide range of procedures to treat disorders and diseases of the female reproductive system. Your doctor may recommend surgery for conditions such as cancer, infertility and incontinence and benign conditions may be managed through surgical procedures as well.

Our physicians are experts in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, which is not only a safer option for you, but also allows for a faster recovery.

We may discuss surgical treatment with you if you have one of the following conditions:

  • Adenomyosis — tissue growth inside the walls of the uterus where it does not belong
  • Cancer or precancer of the cervix, uterus, ovary or endometrium
  • Endometriosis — tissue growth occurring outside of the uterus on the ovaries, instead of its normal place lining the uterus
  • Heavy or unusual vaginal bleeding
  • Uterine fibroids — noncancerous growths in the wall of the uterus
  • Uterine prolapse — when the uterus slips from its normal place down into the vagina

To treat these conditions, we perform the following procedures in the surgical suite at UM Shore Regional Health:

  • Diagnostic hysteroscopy
  • Essure tubal occlusion
  • Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) — including da Vinci Robot assisted, laparoscopic, abdominal or vaginal hysterectomy
  • Hysteroscopic resection of uterine polyps and fibroids
  • Laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy
  • Laparoscopic evaluation for pelvic pain
  • Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy
  • Laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis
  • Laparoscopic tubal ligation
  • LEEP Cone
  • Myomectomy (fibroid removal)
  • NovaSure endometrial ablation
  • Repair for pelvic organ prolapse (anterior and posterior repair)
  • Sub-urethral sling for urinary incontinence
