Lynda A. Onyema, NP, recently joined the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Behavioral Health practice and is accepting new patients. Behavioral Health offers diagnosis, professional assistance, and medication management for various mental health conditions such as ADHD, anxiety disorders and autism.

Nurse Practitioners Heather Oliver, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, and Adwoa Amponsah-Poku, DNP, CRNP, FNP-C, are the newest providers at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Primary Care practice and are taking new appointments at the La Plata and Bryans Road locations.

Gbemisola "Victoria" Adebayo, NP, recently joined the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Behavioral Health practice and is currently accepting new patients at the La Plata mental health practice.

UM Charles Regional Medical Center's first birth of 2023 was Harper Derrick Jackson, who was born to Diamond and Mike Jackson of White Plains at 8:14 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center was awarded a $375,000 three-year grant to continue and expand its Peer Recovery Coach Program which provides help to patients struggling with substance use disorders.

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center named Stephen Smith, MD, as the new Chief Medical Officer to oversee 425 medical providers who work or have privileges at the 104-bed hospital in La Plata. He will begin his new role Dec. 29.

Jameel Shareef, DO, a physician with advanced training in internal medicine and digestive disorders, has joined the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Gastroenterology practice as the team of clinical providers continues to grow to meet the needs of the region's patients.

 

The University of Maryland Medical System today announced it is providing more than $2.3 million in grants across the state with a strategic focus on addressing issues of food insecurity and employment. The UMMS Community Impact Grant Program is awarding funding to nine individual organizations and one collaborative serving individuals across the System's footprint in Maryland.

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Group – Primary Care is expanding its reach into western Charles County with a new location in Bryans Road. The new location opens Monday, July 25, and will provide much-needed medical services to an area that has limited health care options.
