First thing you'll notice is how our lab is transfused with care.

UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center's state-of-the art laboratory includes phlebotomy, urinalysis, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, anatomic pathology and blood bank services to all inpatients and outpatient areas. All laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists using CLIA federal guidelines.

A variety of procedures are performed in the laboratories on patients that range in age from infancy to elderly adults. The laboratory staff includes certified medical technologists, medical technicians, cytotechnologists, histotechnologists, technicians, phlebotomists and licensed pathologists.

Our lab professionals, often working behind the scenes, support nearly every aspect of healthcare. In a given day, they process and analyze thousands of specimens, urine and blood cultures, and tissue and cellular samples.

The clinical laboratory and blood bank provides services 24 hours a day while our pathology laboratory provides services from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and is on-call after hours. The laboratory can be reached at 410-787-4535.
