Alaina Halbach, M.D.
Medical School: University of Maryland School of Medicine
I grew up in New Hampshire and went to Bowdoin College in Maine to major in French. I spent a semester abroad in Senegal where I met my husband. After graduation I moved down to Baltimore to get my Master of Science in Public Health from Johns Hopkins, and, after a brief adjustment period, fell in love with the city. My husband and I then moved to Silver Spring, MD where I worked for 4 years as a contracted epidemiologist for the Department of Defense. While I enjoyed traveling internationally in pursuit of global health and infectious disease epidemiology, I decided to go back to Baltimore for medical school to be able to integrate public health and clinical work in my future career. I am very excited to be staying in Baltimore for my pediatric residency and look forward to further clarifying my interests over the next three years.
My husband and I recently welcomed our daughter and I’m so excited to get to know her. In my free time I enjoy going on family walks with our dogs and reading fantasy novels.
