Neurology Ambulatory Center
At the University of Maryland Medical Center's Neurology Ambulatory Center, we provide compassionate, expert care to patients.
We accept most major insurance plans. We do not accept Cigna Healthsprings, Aetna Medicaid, Kaiser, Jai, Medstar (Family Choice, Medicare Choice) United Healthcare.
Office visits will vary in time depending on the type of visit (initial or follow up) or procedure/treatment. You should receive a written reminder about seven days before your visit. You will also receive a text message or phone call asking you to confirm your appointment 1-3 days before your appointment.
When you arrive at your appointed time, you will be checked in and added to our electronic medical record systems. Make sure to bring your ID, insurance card, and any approval or other necessary paperwork. Please also bring medical records and medical images (films or CDs) for your provider to review.
The medical assistant will start your visit by taking your vital signs, checking your medication list and taking a preliminary history.
After this, the physician/provider portion of visit will start. As a University of Maryland is a teaching hospital, your visit may include evaluation by a physician in training prior to being seen by your provider.
Generally an initial visit will include 45-60 min with these physicians and a follow up visit 20-30 min.
Allowing for registration, triage and physician time, most initial visits are 1.5-2 hours and most follow-up visits are 60 minutes. As many of our patients have complex neurological problems and are at an advanced stage of their neurological disease, these times are general and your time with the physicians may be more or less.
Most diagnostic exams take 60 minutes. The total appointment time including registration and triage is typically 90 min.
If you need to cancel your appointment more than 24 hours before your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible by calling 410-328-4323. If we don't answer, please leave a message.
Recurrent cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may receive a cancellation charge.
