Gonzalo Solís, FACHE

Vice President of Operations
Gonzalo Solís, MHSA, FACHE is the Vice President of Operations for the University of Maryland Medical Center downtown and midtown campuses. In this role, he oversees several departments, including radiology, laboratories, facilities planning, supply chain, environmental services, food services, security, and emergency management. He leads hospital-wide initiatives to improve operations by partnering closely with the executives, clinical teams and medical staff. He also supports UMMC's efforts to improve the delivery of patient- and family-centered care. Since the beginning of the pandemic he has been serving as Co-Incident Commander for the COVID-19 Response at UMMC.
Mr. Solís has many years of experience supporting hospital operations in various frontline and leadership roles. He joined UMMC from Yale New Haven Health (YNHH) in Connecticut, where he served as Operations Executive for the 1,540-bed multi-campus tertiary medical center.
Mr. Solís attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he received his B.S. in Brain, Behavior & Cognitive Sciences as well as his Master of Health Services Administration. He has achieved Six Sigma Green Belt certification and is board-certified in healthcare management as Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Health Financial Management Association, the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives, and the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives. Mr. Solís is active in the community, where he has served in several not-for-profit boards.
