The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) announces the appointment of Peggy Norton-Rosko, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive for the University of Maryland Medical System, as the System’s representative to the board of directors for the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH) and its hospitals. Norton-Rosko will also represent UMMS on the UM UCH Board’s Quality of Care Committee.

In her role as Chief Nurse Executive at UMMS, Norton-Rosko is responsible for setting standards in nursing practice, promoting nursing professional development, collaborating with schools of nursing to strengthen the workforce pipeline, supporting strategic planning initiatives, enhancing nursing workforce development and driving continuous clinical improvements as part of the organization’s High Reliability journey.

“Peggy’s appointment reflects her deep commitment to advancing nursing practice and patient outcomes,” said Elizabeth Wise, FACHE, MSN, MBA, UM UCH’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Her expertise will be invaluable to our organization as we continue our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.”

“I’m excited to be part of the UM UCH Board of Directors and look forward to learning and sharing information from my prior experiences,” said Norton-Rosko. Her extensive career includes serving as Regional Chief Nursing Officer for Trinity Health in Illinois and Indiana and as Chief Nursing Officer for George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. She brings more than three decades of clinical expertise, having practiced as an advanced nurse for cardiovascular surgery and critical care patients. Norton-Rosko earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University of Chicago and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chamberlain University. She was also honored as a Johnson & Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellow for 2023-2024.
