UM Upper Chesapeake Health at Bel Air
Opening in 2024 – beginning in January
The additions and renovations to our campus in Bel Air are transforming health care to keep you living at your healthiest. The enhancements include construction of Pavilion III, which will be home to new outpatient surgery center, and a Patient Bed Tower, which will increase our capacity to treat inpatients.

Patient Bed Tower – Opening February 2024
The new Patient Bed Tower will add 72 additional patient beds to increase inpatient care in our region. The newly constructed tower includes additional space for future growth, strengthening our commitment to continuous advancement.
Additional enhancements across our Bel Air campus include:
- Expanded kitchen and dining areas to better serve our patients and guests
- Improved reception area and dedicated restrooms in our emergency department
- Improved signage for easier wayfinding

Pavilion III – Opening in phases in Winter 2023 – 2024
Advanced Outpatient Surgical Care Close to Home
The new state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center opens in mid-January 2024. And beginning in March 2024, Pavilion III will be the new home of our advanced orthopedics, spine, hand and plastic surgery practices and rehabilitation programs.
Bringing surgical care and the pre- and post-surgery visits to the same place streamlines the experience for patients undergoing surgery and recovery.
Our long-standing Upper Chesapeake Orthopedics Specialty Group will relocate to a large, beautiful space in Pavilion III, while keeping its second office in the Health and Wellness Center on the Aberdeen campus.
Additionally, 30,000 square-feet of medical office space will be available for lease for medical providers and other programs.

Located in the heart of Harford County, the Medical Center in Bel Air includes:
- Hospital-based inpatient care
