Maintaining a healthy diet during cancer treatment can be challenging, especially when side-effects from treatment lead to eating problems. However, research has shown that good nutrition during treatment can actually minimize some side-effects and even help promote a faster recovery.

At the Kaufman Cancer Center, our registered dietitian will help you plan a healthy diet that includes enough calories and appropriate proteins, fluids and nutrients.

The dietitian can work with you during treatment and make recommendations for the best diet, especially if you are experiencing:

  • changes in weight (loss or gain)
  • loss of appetite
  • changes in taste
  • nausea and vomiting
  • diarrhea or constipation
  • swallowing issues

If needed, she can also suggest nutritional  supplements or make recommendations to accommodate a feeding tube.

Kelly O’Connor, RDN, has over 30 years of experience as a dietitian and is also a Certified Diabetes Educator. Please call 443-643-3350 Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm  to request an appointment.
