Facing the end of one’s life can be a very emotional and often anxious time for both the individual and their family. The Senator Bob Hooper House, an assisted living facility specializing in hospice care, can relieve some of the stress and worry when someone is terminally ill and allow families to make the most of every moment they share together.

Located in Forest Hill, residents of the Hooper House receive compassionate, quality care in a beautiful and comfortable setting that feels like home. The house has private rooms, gathering areas and overnight accommodations for loved ones.

"My family and I pledged our leadership and support by joining many generous neighbors and community partners to establish The Senator Bob Hooper House. The house is named for my dad, the late Senator Bob Hooper, because of our gratitude for the hospice care we received during his final days."

– Cindy Hushon, Senator Hooper’s daughter and Board of Directors Chair

The mission of the house is simple: For all families in our community, regardless of income, to have access to compassionate, full-service end-of- life care, close to home.

About Senator Bob Hooper

Bob Hooper

A vibrant and larger-than-life figure, Senator Hooper worked hard to support the community he loved so much. Representing the Maryland state senate, he was known as Senator “High Five” Hooper for the high-five greetings he gave at every senate session. His friendly demeanor and his very presence put a smile on everyone’s face.

Before his passing, Senator Hooper’s family was deeply impacted by the care he received from Wendy Snee, who at the time was a nurse at Harford Hospice. Ms. Snee cared for the senator at his home in Streett, Maryland during the final two months of his life.

Profoundly grateful for the clinical, emotional and psychological support she and her team provided, his family made a significant contribution to help build the Senator Bob Hooper House, Harford County's first residential hospice.
