P. Justin Tortolani

University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center is pleased to welcome P. Justin Tortolani, MD, spine surgeon.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Tortolani is widely recognized for his research contributions to the advancement of spinal surgery, at a national level. His research has been published extensively in numerous professional publications and journals throughout his career. In recognition of his clinical and research based achievements, Baltimore magazine has named him a Top Doctor in orthopaedic spine surgery every year since 2013.

Dr. Tortolani, however, is not new to UM St. Joseph. He previously served as an attending orthopaedic surgeon and co-director of the Maryland Spinal Reconstructive Fellowship Program.

Most recently, he served as Director of the Spine Division at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, as part of MedStar Orthopaedic Institute, while also serving as a professor in the department of orthopaedic surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Dr. Tortolani earned his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, then completed an internship in general surgery and a residency program in orthopaedic surgery at Johns Hopkins. His training concluded with a orthopaedic surgery fellowship at the Emory University Spine Center in Atlanta.
