The Gift of Time & Treasure

The Gift of Time & Treasure

Many at St. Joseph call volunteer Fran Hogan, “the face of St. Joe’s.” Fran came to volunteer 18 years ago, when her husband passed away and she was looking to fill empty hours. Fran is literally everywhere, greeting patients, soothing worried families in the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Emergency Department, and helping patients navigate the complexities of a large hospital.

But volunteering is not where Fran’s commitment stops; she has made a provision in her will to leave a bequest to St. Joseph through our legacy program, The Tau Society.

“By allowing me to help people every day, St. Joseph has given more to me than I could ever give back,” says Fran, who was designated a “Health Care Hero” last year in The Daily Record. “This is my ‘home away from home.’ Volunteering at St. Joseph has really taught me to count my blessings. I love knowing, because of my gift, I’ll still be helping long into the future.”

Members of our Tau Society share a commitment to the future of St. Joseph Medical Center by including its Foundation in their estate plans. Through their gifts and gift commitments, they provide an assurance that St. Joseph will always be capable of responding to the changing health care needs of the people of our community.
