Dr. Kurtom Honored as Talbot County Community Service Award Nominee

Congratulations to Khalid Kurtom, MD, FAANS, FACS, Medical Director, UM Shore Medical Group-Neurosurgery, for being among the nominees to the 2025 Talbot County Citizen & Service Awards.
Nominees and winners were honored in April at a ceremony held on the lawn of the county courthouse, where he is shown at right with Ken Kozel, President and CEO, and Wendy Towers, Neurosurgery nurse practitioner.
Dr. Kurtom's nomination, included in the event program, read as follows:
"Dr. Kurtom serves his community not only as a well-respected neurosurgeon, but also uses his education and talents to mentor young adults who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. Along with his neurosurgery team, he has served on medical missions to the Middle East and Central America.
Locally, Dr. Kurtom has coached multiple youth sports teams, primarily soccer and running, volunteers with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) as well as with Choices Pregnancy Center. Dr. Kurtom has assisted the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health with developing plans, recruitment and fundraising for the new Regional Medical Center."
