Join labor and delivery nurse Stephanie Blades for a guided tour of the Birthing Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton. And don’t forget to sign up for a Labor and Delivery class, held on the first Saturday of every month in the hospital’s Health Education Center, well before your due date!

The Birthing Center offers private birthing suites, complete with special technologies and lighting, and comfortable home-like amenities.

For the comfort and convenience of expectant mothers and their families, patients will be remain in one suite for the duration of the Birthing Center stay - through labor, delivery and post-partum recovery. This approach means that physicians, nurses and necessary equipment come to mother and baby so that patients and family members enjoy the optimum privacy to share this very special, intimate time together in a soothing and home-like environment.

The Birthing Center at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton is the only Birthing Center that is designed for this kind of maternal and infant care. Known as “LDRP” (labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum), this approach has been practiced successfully and safely for the past 20 years, and reflects UM Shore Regional Health's commitment to provide quality patient- and family-centered care to patients and their loved ones.

Birthing suites include:

  • Private bathrooms with large sinks, showers and closet space
  • Whirlpool tubs for use during or following labor
  • Daybeds for support partners
  • TV/DVD units and comfortable seating
  • Tables and chairs for meal times

Meals are provided in room service fashion, with a variety of menu options.

Should a Cesarean birth be required, the operating suite is located within the Birthing Center for the convenience and safety of the patients and the support of their families.
