Acute Rehabilitation Services
The Requard Center program provides hospital-level care 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a core team of healthcare professionals, in several disciplines, including rehabilitation nursing, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), speech/language therapy (SLP), case management and outcomes management.
Medical Director Stephen Wills, MD, and Requard team members also consult with their colleagues in neurology, orthopedics, internal medicine, pulmonology, cardiology, pain management and other medical specialties to ensure that the complex medical conditions of patients in acute rehabilitation are met.
Specific services include: daily physician care, six to seven hours of daily nursing care, and three hours of intense interdisciplinary therapy provided at least six days a week. Other hospital services afforded to Requard patients include respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, psychology, radiology and laboratory as well as access to orthotics and prosthetics.
The Requard Center facilities include:
- Large private and semi-private patient rooms are designed to facilitate independence and socialization
- An ADL (activities of daily living) apartment complete with refrigerator, stove, sink, and laundry connected to a private room to help individuals regain confidence for independent living
- A multi-purpose education and training center that has uniquely designed circular tables that adjust to various heights for dining and other activities, and also lift to the ceiling to create additional floor space
- A specialized rehabilitation gym that offers high-tech rehabilitation equipment, including:
