Maryann Ruehrmund, CFRE, has served as the Executive Director of University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation since June 2009. Previously, she served as the Chester River Health System’s Director of Development (1994-2004), transforming the Foundation from a hospital department into a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.

Ruehrmund is well-known and respected throughout the Mid-Eastern Shore non-profit community for her fundraising and marketing expertise, which she shares generously. In 2022, she was awarded the prestigious Town Watch Award by the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. It is named in honor of a militia of local citizens that protected the town of Easton during the War of 1812 and is presented to “individuals who demonstrate extraordinary leadership and service in the Mid-Shore region.”

Prior to joining the health system, she held senior positions in advertising, marketing and public relations with Delsey Luggage, Inc.; DavCo Foods, Inc.; and Levitt Homes, Inc.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications with a minor in marketing from University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and a Certificate in Major Gifts/Capital Campaign Development from the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Institute in Madison, Wisconsin. She earned the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation in 2004 and has been a member of the Kent County, Maryland Ethics Commission since 2014.
