Behavioral Health Inpatient Services
The Psychiatry Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center offers a wide range of services for individuals facing behavioral health problems. Our inpatient program brings together psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and occupational and recreational therapists to meet the complex needs of adults who need help and support as they struggle with mental health. Our multi-discipline team of experts is dedicated to evidence-based, compassionate, and patient-centered care. Quality of care, patient safety, patient and family satisfaction, and a humanistic approach to psychiatric services are some of the areas that our UMMC professionals excel at.
Our newly-constructed, inpatient psychiatry units optimize the experience and comfort for patients and families. Highlights of our facility include:

Partnership with Baltimore Office of Promotion of The Arts
The integration of art in health care and community settings for therapeutic, educational, and expressive purposes has been proven to benefit patients, their families, and their caregivers. University of Maryland Medical Center partnered with the Baltimore Office of Promotion of The Arts (BOPA) to commission approximately forty murals painted on the interior walls of the new Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
Referrals for admission are received 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 410-328-6231.
