Emergency Care
At the UMMC Midtown Emergency Department, our board-certified doctors, nurses and technicians have received advanced training in emergency care. They treat a wide array of serious illness and injuries. They may include:
- Allergic reactions
- Breathing problems
- Heart problems (including chest or arm pain)
- Stroke
- Loss of consciousness or seizure
- Severe dizziness
- Stomach or chest pain
- Infant illness
- Poisoning or Drug overdose
- Severe burns
- Cuts, punctures, bites
- Child, spouse or elder abuse
- Mental health problems, such as hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that aren't there), threat or suicide attempt, other change in mental status
- Rape, assault or other injury sustained during a violent crime
