Senior Vice President, University of Maryland Medical System

Alison Brown is president of UMMC's Midtown Campus, a community teaching hospital operated as a second campus of the University of Maryland Medical Center. In this role she is responsible for the operation of the hospital and its outpatient programs; assuring excellence in patient safety and quality, patient experience, medical staff relations, clinical program development, operational effectiveness, financial management, human resources management and effective community engagement.

As senior vice president for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), she is responsible for leading the health system's comprehensive marketing, communications, media relations and community health services and programs.

Prior to joining the Medical System in 1992, Brown was a senior manager in KPMG's national management consulting health care strategy practice. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Vermont and a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University. She has served as adjunct faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Health Policy and Management. She was elected to membership in the Hopkins Chapter of the Delta Omega Honor Society in 2003.

Brown has served on the board of directors for the United Way of Central Maryland. She was inducted into the "Circle of Excellence" for being thrice named one of "Maryland's Top 100 Women" by The Daily Record. She is a member of the Executive Alliance, a Maryland organization fostering women in corporate leadership. In 2017, she was named one of Maryland's "Top 25 Women to Watch" by the Baltimore Sun.
