Molly Bernish, CNM, MSN worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital prior to joining UM SMG - Women's Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from DePaul University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Johns Hopkins University, and a Master’s in Public Health Nursing from the Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, Molly received a post-graduate certificate in Nurse Midwifery from Shenandoah University.
Molly has had midwifery clinical experience at the George Washington University Hospital where she supported women in natural childbirth. There she solidified her trust in women’s bodies, the benefits of hydrotherapy, and patience in the labor process.
As a public health nurse, Molly has advocated for reducing maternal health disparities in Baltimore City and worked on projects focusing on the management of postpartum hemorrhages in low-resource settings.
Prior to entering the healthcare field, Molly worked as Education Volunteer with the US Peace Corps wherein she was stationed in a rural South African village. In this position, she was awarded a PEPFAR grant to start a girls’ club focusing on HIV prevention and healthy lifestyles. This opportunity ultimately led her to pursue a career devoted to women’s health as she watched women become empowered through learning about their own bodies. Molly is an advocate for women in all seasons of life.
She recently moved to Easton with her husband and two young children. She is looking forward to meeting and joining the network of women throughout the community as well as hiking, boating, camping, and exploring the Eastern Shore.
