Surbhi Leekha, MD, MPH

An infectious diseases physician, Dr. Leekha oversees the infection prevention and control program at University of Maryland Medical Center. Her clinical interests include patients requiring surgery for management of infection and treating patients who develop infectious complications from surgery.

Dr. Leekha conducts research on surveillance and prevention of health care associated infections, with particular interests in surveillance methodology and implementation of practices to prevent infections. She is also interested in the appropriate use and application of infectious disease diagnostics as a means to antimicrobial stewardship.

She received her medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences and completed her internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
