A radiation oncologist, Dr. Cheston's clinical focus is on treating breast cancer with the latest radiation therapy techniques. She regards her patients as much more than their cancer diagnosis, seeing them as unique human beings who deserve as much compassion and support as they do quality medical care. She seeks to make patients partners in their care, taking the time to understand their health goals and personally guide them through the decision-making process.
The overwhelming effects of a cancer diagnosis on both the patient and their family is something Dr. Cheston knows all too well, as she herself was impacted by her mother's breast cancer diagnosis. That experience stoked her passion for destroying cancer cells.
A University of Maryland medical student and residency program graduate, Dr. Cheston is currently an associate professor of radiation oncology at University of Maryland School of Medicine. She joined the faculty of the Department of Radiology Oncology in 1996 immediately following her residency. She practices at the department's community-based center in Howard County, Maryland.
Dr. Cheston has been the medical director of Central Maryland Radiation Oncology since 2000.
