Saiyad A. Sarkar, MD

An interventional pulmonologist, Dr. Sarkar specializes in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the airway, lung and pleura. He has clinical expertise in difficult airway management. His extensive experience in sleep apnea, obstructive lung disease and pulmonary neoplasms allows him to focus on the management and treatment of lung cancer through chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and other targeted cancer therapies. He is fellowship-trained in pulmonary/critical medicine and interventional pulmonology.

Dr. Sarkar is medical director of the pulmonary and lung cancer diagnostic programs at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health's Kaufman Cancer Center in Bel Air, Maryland. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the pulmonary care/critical medicine department at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and an adjunct assistant professor at University of Maryland School of Medicine. His special interests include researching and focusing on endoscopic methods of diagnosing and treating both malignant and non-malignant conditions.

Dr. Sarkar earned his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and went on to complete an internship and his residency at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
