About Me
Dr. McCoy is an endocrinologist specializing in the care of people living with diabetes. Guided by the principle that the needs of the patient come first, she strives to get to know and support her patients in caring for them.
At University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. McCoy is the associate division chief for clinical research in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition and director of precision medicine and population health at the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing. She is also a health services researcher whose work leverages real-world data to improve the quality, accessibility and sustainability of diabetes care. She is particularly interested in understanding and addressing factors that lead to poor health and quality of life for people living with diabetes. She has devoted her career to identifying optimal diabetes treatment strategies and developing patient-centered care delivery models to improve diabetes care and health outcomes.
Dr. McCoy joined the University of Maryland in 2023 from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she was recognized as the "Top Performing Provider in Patient Experience" in 2020 and 2022. She also received the 2022 Rochester Mayor's Medal of Honor Human Services Award, the 2022 Minnesota Rural Health Hero Award (from the Minnesota Department of Health), and the 2023 E. Drewry Henderson Award (from the Zumbro Valley Medical Society) for her dedication to serving her patients and community.
In her free time, Dr. McCoy likes to spend time with her family, cook and explore the outdoors.
