Peter R Gaskin MBBS, DCH, FAAP, FACC is a pediatric cardiologist at the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After completing his medical degree at the University of West Indies in Jamaica, Dr. Gaskin trained in Barbados. He then came to the United States where he completed his residency in pediatrics at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York. His training continued at Duke University where he completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship followed by a fellowship in pediatric interventional cardiology.

Before joining the University of Maryland in 2006, Dr. Gaskin spent three years as the medical director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados. He then returned to the U.S. where he served as an attending physician at Howard University and Children’s National Medical Center.

Dr. Gaskin’s primary interests are in pulmonary hypertension, hyperlipidemia, interventional cardiology and obesity. Known for his gentle nature, Dr. Gaskin is highly regarded by his patients and colleagues.

Dr. Peter Gaskin was named a Top Doctor in the specialty of Pediatric Cardiology by Baltimore magazine in 2016 and 2019.
