About Me

A psychiatrist, Dr. Carchedi takes an integrative and collaborative approach to helping patients who come to her for mental health treatment. She advocates for the use of a combination of traditional psychopharmacology (the use of medication in treating mental health conditions) as well as complementary and alternative treatments that promote total wellness.

Dr. Carchedi previously had an active academic medicine career that began during her psychiatry residency while working as the clinical coordinator for Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences students. In 2004, she received a Meritorious Service Medal as a captain for her efforts in promoting recruitment to the psychiatry field. She worked many years as a clerkship director for medical students and taught residents in psychiatry. She received several teaching awards from 2010 to 2014, including the Nancy C.A. Roeske, MD Certificate of Excellence in Medical Student Education.

Dr. Carchedi became a fellow of the American Psychiatry Association in January 2011. She served on the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) national board from 2019 to 2021. She received the NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award in May 2019.

Dr. Carchedi did her psychiatry residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was medical director of the inpatient psychiatric unit and earned the rank of major (O-4) while stationed at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas. In 2009, at the time of her separation from active duty, she received a Meritorious Service Medal and a commander’s coin for outstanding service in psychiatry. She has Master of Science degrees from Maryland University of Integrative Health in yoga therapy and clinical herbal medicine.

A Maryland native, Dr. Carchedi likes to spend time with family and friends in her free time. In addition to being an amateur ballroom dancer, she is a yoga therapist and pilates teacher.
