Lakshmi Vaidyanathan, MD, MBA

Dr. Vaidyanathan has extensive clinical experience with the management of chronic, serious, and complex health conditions.

She has a passion for improving the quality of life of patients with serious illnesses, providing support to their loved ones and aligning the medical plan with patients' goals and values. This led her to start Shore Regional Palliative Care Program, an interdisciplinary team that provides comprehensive services and support to patients with chronic and serious health conditions.

Dr. Vaidyanathan currently serves as a palliative medicine physician and medical director of Palliative Medicine and Population Health at UM SRH. She sees patients at the UM SRH hospitals in Easton and Chestertown and in her outpatient office.

A member of the UM SRH medical staff since 2001, Dr. Vaidyanathan has practiced in various roles over the years. She previously worked as a hospitalist, hospice medical director and provided preoperative medical evaluations. Her work has taken her to various care settings including the hospitals, patients' homes, skilled nursing facilities and outpatient offices.

In recognition of her work in Palliative Medicine, Dr. Vaidyanathan was the recipient of the 2012 Arthur B. Cecil Jr., MD Award for Excellence in Healthcare Improvement.
