About Me
Dr. Bittle is a thoracic surgeon who specializes in benign and malignant diseases of the lung, pleura, esophagus, mediastinum, and chest wall, with a particular interest in lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and complex mediastinal and chest wall resections.
He has expertise in the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to support patients with severe cardiac or pulmonary dysfunction, allowing successful management of life-threatening medical (ARDS, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism) or surgical conditions (airway obstruction or injury, mediastinal tumors, ischemic or structural heart disease).
As a member of the University of Maryland Lung Transplant Program. Dr. Bittle also performs lung transplantation in patients with advanced lung disease.
