Fan Liang, MD, is a board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in complex adult craniofacial trauma, reconstruction of secondary craniofacial deformities, pediatric craniofacial surgery, microsurgery and gender-affirming surgery.

Dr. Liang completed her undergraduate education at Princeton University and went on to obtain her medical degree at Harvard Medical School. She then completed her residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric and Craniofacial Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan.

She has been recognized by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons for her research in recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) and has served as the national resident representative to the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons from 2015-2017.

She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented widely on the topics related to congenital craniofacial reconstruction, transplant biology, and emerging technologies in plastic surgery. She has a wealth of experience mentoring and teaching undergraduates, residents and fellows, and is thrilled to continue teaching as an assistant professor of plastic, reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Liang currently serves as the Course Director for the Trauma Plastic Surgery medical student elective, and as the Co-director of the combined Johns Hopkins/University of Maryland Craniofacial Fellowship.
