Dr. Guardiani is an otorhinolaryngologist (head and neck surgeon). She specializes in voice, swallowing and airway disorders.

Whether it’s a bothersome throat complaint or a more serious problem, such as vocal cord cancer or working to get a tracheostomy removed, I try to provide individualized care to each patient for the best possible outcome. Dr. Guardiani has several areas of expertise, which include:

  • Airway scarring and narrowing (subglottic stenosis and tracheal stenosis)
  • Breathing problems (paradoxical vocal cord motion or vocal cord dysfunction)
  • Chronic cough 
  • Chronic throat pain 
  • Hoarseness/voice problems 
  • Neurologic disorders of the voice (spasmodic dysphonia, Parkinson’s disease, vocal tremor)
  • Oromandibular Dystonia  
  • Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis  
  • Swallowing troubles (Zenker’s diverticulum and cricopharyngeal spasm)
  • Tracheostomy dependence  
  • Vocal cord cancer
  • Vocal cord paralysis
  • Vocal cord nodules, polyps or cysts

Advances in care have enabled Dr. Guardini to perform a wide variety of treatments in the office without general anesthesia, such as:

  • Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections
  • Laryngeal biopsies
  • Laser treatments  
  • Stroboscopy
  • Vocal cord injections

These minimally invasive procedures allow for quicker healing and less pain.
