About Me
Cherif Boutros MD, MSc, FACS, is a surgical oncologist at the Tate Cancer Center and University of Maryland Medical System and professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Boutros received his MBChB (M.D. equivalent) from University of Alexandria, Egypt and completed surgical training in Paris, France where he also obtained the Diploma of Surgical Specialty and a Master of surgical science. He had a surgical residency in NY Presbyterian Columbia University / Newark Beth Israel-Monmouth, NJ in General Surgery and Surgical Oncology fellowship in Roger Williams Medical Center/Boston University.
Dr. Boutros received additional advanced training in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the internationally renowned hepatobiliary center at Paul Brousse Hospital, France. He is the author of multiple publications and book chapters in the field of gastrointestinal surgical oncology and had multiple presentations in national and international meetings on innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques for complex abdominal cancers. He is the principal investigator of the LiverMetSurvey at the University of Maryland, an international study for patients who receive surgery for hepatic colorectal metastasis. He is also the principal investigator of the irreversible electroporation study for unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer.
