About Barbara Anne Keirns, MD, FACOGToggle accordion item
Dr. Keirns was born in a small farming community in western Ohio. She completed her undergraduate education at University of Toledo. She received a Health Professional Scholarship through the Army and attended Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.
She completed her residency at Fort Sam Houston, where she also served as a chief resident. After residency, she was made chief of department of OBGYN at Winn Army Community Hospital in Fort Stewart, Georgia. Dr. Keirns then went into private practice in upstate New York for almost 16 years.
She served as an associate professor for clinical medicine at Lake Erie College of Medicine, and was the director of the Women’s Health Care training program at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, where she was also the chief of the department of OBGYN.
Dr. Keirns recognizes the importance of accessible, professional, state-of-the-art medical care for women of all ages. She has special interests in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, obstetrics and preventive women’s health care. She has a daughter, Helena, and son, Victor. She enjoys hiking, reading and being on the water. She loves exploring her community and the Eastern Shore.
