Dr. Ashley Munchel, MD was named a "Top Doctor" in the specialty of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by Baltimore magazine in 2020.
Dr. Munchel graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. She completed her fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health. During the fellowship, her research interest was immune reconstitution after stem cell transplantation.
After graduating from fellowship, she worked at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC in the Division of Blood and Marrow Transplant. She came to University of Maryland Children’s Hospital in 2012. Since starting at UMCH, she has re-established the pediatric bone marrow transplant program.
