Dr. Sasha Krupnick is a general thoracic (chest) surgeon specializing in the treatment of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, lung transplantation and non-cancerous thoracic disorders.

Dr. Krupnick provides the full range of thoracic surgery services, including minimally invasive lung and esophageal resections.

Dr. Krupnick’s career is dedicated to advancing the field of lung transplantation. His laboratory focuses on the development of new immunosuppression mechanisms for the lung allograft. He, along with his colleagues, made several important discoveries including the role of the gut microbiome in chronic rejection and early immunologic intervention that can encourage long-term graft survival.

He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan and then pursued general surgery training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Dr. Krupnick completed lung transplantation and a thoracic surgery fellowship at Washington University in St Louis where he remained on faculty at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Washington University post training.
