Dr. Albert Li is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon who is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Dr. Li specializes in diseases and surgery of the vitreous and retina, including:

  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Retinal vascular occlusions
  • Retinal detachments
  • Macular puckers
  • Macular holes
  • Cataract complications
Dr. Li is dedicated to providing compassionate care to all his patients, employing the latest technology and applying the most up-to-date medical research in order to meet the specific needs of each patient he sees.

Dr. Li is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  He has authored many peer-reviewed articles in the medical literature and presented his clinical research at several national and international ophthalmology meetings.

In addition to treating patients at the University of Maryland, Dr. Li continues to be engaged in clinical research in retinal diseases as well as the education of medical students and residents in ophthalmology.
